Be a Host Family for International Students and Scholars
Lutheran Campus Ministry is excited to be working with Mr. Zhenchuan Liu in creating opportunities for ministry with International Students at the University of Washington. Zhenchuan received his MDiv from the University of Dubuque Theological Seminary, and is serving as a Synodically Authorized Minister with Lutheran Campus Ministry and Grace Chinese Lutheran Church.
Our hope is to gently proclaim the Gospel through partnerships with the "Chinese Students and Scholars Association" and with the "Taiwanese Students Association" at the UW. We are offering basic ELL classes (peer taught) twice a week, as well as offering opportunities for hospitality and fellowship.
We invite local congregational members to become "Host Families" for international students. We are looking for families that can be a link between the International Student and our culture. Start with a monthly get-together - invite them to dinner, go for a hike, visit a park, attend some local events or places of interest. We're not asking for a big time commitment, or for families to provide housing, or counseling, or to be responsible for any financial obligations. These students are self-sufficient, but would appreciate the hospitality and experience of a relationship with a local family during their time of study at the UW.
Interested? Please fill out this Host Family Application

(Yes, of course, you can refer yourself! And yes, we're happy to let Lutheran/Episcopal Campus Ministry sites at other universities know that you or a student you know is headed their way!)

Zombies at Campus Ministry?
Well, maybe not Campus Ministry Zombies, but recently we hosted a photo shoot in our furnace room for Night Zero, a project that Katrina, one of our peer minister's, is involved with. Night Zero has been taking the city by storm! See if you can recognize our ministry site, especially the furnace room!
From Marine to Priest
Here's an article about the Rev. John Fergueson, rector at the Episcopal Church of the Redeemer in Kenmore. John is a frequent guest celebrant at our weekly worship services, and has a fascinating history. This article was written by Charles Cadwallader, a senior in journalism here at the UW
